Dionaea (Venus Fly Traps)

The Venus Fly Trap is probably one of the most easily recognizable carnivorous plants in the world!  But oddly enough, in the wild they are found only within a 50 mile radius of Wilmington NC and no where else in the entire world!  Venus fly traps are temperate, meaning they come from an area that experiences winter and therefore the venus flytrap is a hardy perennial.  It goes dormant in the winter (although often not completely) and busts back to life in the spring.
